The Detailer/Drafter I is responsible for the development of project-specific details as well as the preparation and coordination of clear, concise drawings of pre-engineered metal buildings. The candidate should be very detail-oriented and posses excellent problem-solving skills. Candidate works closely with company management and, in some cases, with clients. Initial assignments will be to learn, create, and maintain project-specific assignments.

  • Preferred candidate:
  • Experienced utilizing Excel, Word, and CAD software
  • Basic knowledge of standard construction practices
  • Effective time management and logical decision-making ability
  • Familiar with design documents, site layouts, unit mix, architectural drafting floor plans, building plots, and elevations.

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour

Reports to: Project Manager

Position Summary: As a team member for the construction project team, responsibilities will include initial estimate of projects, allocating project resources, and establishing subcontract agreements while creating a positive safety climate.

Forge is looking for an enthusiastic individual(s) interested in assessing customer service expectations and ensuring delivery of contractual services by applying expertise in engineering and construction management while working with our Project Managers.

As a member of our operations group, this person will have opportunities to provide project leadership during both planning and construction phases. Aptitude for team-based planning, problem-solving, and wholehearted commitment to building strong partnerships to support project goals will be critical for success.

This position will provide a great opportunity to develop construction leadership expertise across a range of markets and clients, leverage technology to increase efficiency and effectiveness, participate in a broad range of project planning and coordination duties, and grow with the company. This is a paid position requiring the ability to perform the responsibilities detailed below.

Preferred candidate:

  • Familiarity with Bluebeam
  • Ability to read construction documents
  • Good organizational skills

At Forge the project manager/estimator will oversee several projects at a time. These projects are worked from estimation through design build, to end of build, maintenance, and warranty. As the PM you will work with the sales team and clients to cultivate the scope of work needed. You will need great communication skills, be well organized, and possess problem-solving skills. Candidates should have a strong understanding of the construction process, including reading plans, permit process, specification, and coordinate schedules while staying within project budget.

Qualifications Include

  • 2 years’ experience in construction as an estimator, assistant project manager or project manager
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction management or a related field
  • Evaluate project requirements including organize deliverables, scheduling, safety, and other targets are met.
  • Recognize, escalate as needed and resolve any issues
  • Ensure all safety requirements are always maintained
  • Hold project meetings and communicate updates with Senior Project Manager, Sales Team, and Client
  • Organize reports, work with accounting team,
  • Ensure the Forge quality and values are monitored throughout the project
  • Through understanding of industry standards and practices
  • Pre-engineered metal building experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of construction accounting
  • Travel to job site locations to review project progress

The superintendent will report and work closely with the project manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operation of construction projects
  • Manage safety program, compliance and quality regulations are followed
  • Monitor and communicate project progress with project managers, job foremen and clients
  • Manage site organization and subcontractors
  • Develop project work schedules and identifying critical path items to meet schedule
  • Primary contact for owners, architects, engineers, and project managers for all direct construction and activities on the project

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Must have minimum of 5 years commercial experience with project scopes of $5M or more; multi-level construction a plus.
  • Ensure job safety requirements are understood and implemented by all project personnel and trade contractors.
  • Must be capable of independently managing all field related aspects of a project with home office support.
  • Ability to read and interpret all contract documents, drawings and specifications issued for performance of the construction work.
  • Take the lead in resolving construction problems (work interference, productivity, etc.)
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, and a demonstrated ability to supervise large groups.
  • Ability to interpret and generate RFI's and communicate responses clearly to subcontractors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Overall site logistics and management independent of home office.
  • Develop punch-list and manage it to close-out.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and legible history set of drawings on-site, including all necessary as-builts.
  • Review and understand each individual subcontractor's scope of work.
  • Lead weekly subcontractor meetings, safety meetings, and pre-construction meetings (as required).
  • Daily general inspection of the work to ensure quality and compliance with the contract documents / approved submittals.
  • Work with local municipalities on permit issues (as required).
  • Responsible for weekly reports to home office including but not limited to; 2 week look-ahead schedule, vendor logs, and expense reports.
  • The ideal candidate is a team player with the ability to remain calm, focused, and effective under time pressure situations. Self-starter with ability to set goals and tasks with strong leadership skills.
  • Active CESCL certification, OSHA 10 hours or greater
  • Experience in the greater Seattle area
